Ballet is one of the oldest styles of dance and is taught throughout the world. Ballet is a style of dance based on vocabulary and technique. Classes combine stretching, barre exercises, and center technique work. Ballet is the most disciplined style of dance and provides the perfect foundation for any dancer.
Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. It brings a connection from your head all the way down to your toes. Tap is a fantastic genre that develops rhythm, stage presence, and adds to the overall versatility of the dancer. Tap focuses on intricate footwork creating a percussion instrument out of the dancers' feet.
Jazz is a stylized and technical form of dance that considers placement, precision, strength, flexibility, and a ballet foundation combined with the use of rhythmic music. It encompasses different styles of dance, from high-energy, show-stopping dances to lyrical jazz.It incorporates kicks, poses with accents, jumps, and turns. It can be performed to different kinds of music such as pop, rock, or jazz.
Lyrical classes combine the movement quality of Jazz with the technical component of Ballet. Contemporary and Lyrical are typically danced to slower music, either ballads with words or instrumental. These genres allow dancers to combine steps together in more of an artistic format typically danced in the center of the floor.
The merging of three dance forms (ballet, jazz, and lyrical), contemporary is considered to be the most popular form of dance today — and continues to grow as the years go by. It incorporates a great amount of movement as well as technique and focuses on the lines of a dancer. This dance can be performed both at a faster and/or slower pace depending on the choreography.
A structured form of street dance often found in music videos, designed to teach coordination, strength, quickness, agility and endurance accompanied with popular R&B music. Hip Hop is a fun dance style that lets you forget about the conformity of the other techniques. This is a street style of dance open to interpretation from each individual. It involves using energetic moves to express the feeling you get from the music.
The importance of acro/tumbling in your dancers repertoire is insurmountable. Not only does a stretchy back insure that most injuries may be avoided, acro skills also provide a good base line for ballet and improve your child’s flexibility in a new way. Students will learn tricks such as , cartwheels, illusions, handstands, walkovers, aerials, and many more skills. Acro combines dance, acrobatics, and gymnastics in one exciting sport!
