Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell began her formal training in the New Orleans area where she was a  member of several Dance Companies. In 1985,  Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell received her graduate teacher of dance certificate in ballet, tap jazz, lyrical and acrobatics. Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell continued to advance her dance career as she performed in Dance  Companies in Chicago,  Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin as well as Chattanooga, Tennessee in the 1990’s. She has also had the opportunity to perform on television as one of the nation’s Top Young Dancers of the year in ballet, jazz and tap. She has also received her degree in dance at the age of 26, she  also spent much time out of town educating herself under many dance master teachers in several  states across the country since the age of 11.  

As a competitive dancer and teacher , Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell has personally  won several Regional and National awards.  Under her training, her students have won  several Regional and National  awards including Platinum Ballet Champions and Platinum Jazz Champions, along with many  title awards such as Mini, Petite, Junior, Teen and Miss Dance USA. Ms. Bersuder -Mitchell and  her dedicated students have also earned various studio awards including outstanding  choreography, performance, and judges awards in several areas in the United States. 

As a faculty member of the Junior Miss Pageants, Ms. Bersuder –Mitchell was a  choreographer for several Pageants in Louisiana and Mississippi on the State and Local levels. She has also  judged many high school and college dance teams, dance competitions and Dance Company auditions in the southeast and central United States. In 1999, she also continued to advance her dance education by being accepted to membership in Dance Masters of America and Louisiana Association of Dance Masters. Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell had to undergo strict testing both written and demonstration in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Acrobatics. She achieved this with very high scores. 

In 2002, Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell and her students were interviewed and performed on the  television show  Rita Rutner. They were chosen out of several dancers who attended the Dance Masters of America National Convention and Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2012,  Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell was awarded the I Love Dance Teacher of The Year Award, for demonstrating excellent teacher skills in dance technique and dance performance.  Along with her student Bailee Mitchell who was also awarded the 2012 Dancer of The year Award. Ms.  Bersuder-Mitchell also was awarded the Marjorie Perry spirit award in April 2013 and 2015. In 2014 and 2017  Ms. Bersuder –Mitchell was chosen Dance Teacher of the Year.   Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell was chosen from Dance instructors around the United States for  her excellence in teaching dance technique as well as her dedication to the art of dance. 

Although Ms. Bersuder’s qualifications and accomplishments are many, her serious focus on  ballet, jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, tap, musical theatre, pointe and contemporary for all levels will   continue  to offer the serious-minded dancer an extensive dance program for both novice and  competitive dancers  alike.  As the owner and director of Maureen Bersuder Academy of Dance Arts,  Ms. Bersuder-Mitchell and her staff will continue to use their hearts as well as  their knowledge to enrich students in the  Slidell/Pearl River  area as well as the Metro  New Orleans and North Shore areas.
